Our Area

South East Dorset Green Party covers the area of Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and the surrounding areas. We cover the 5 Parliamentary Constituencies of Bournemouth East, Bournemouth West, Christchurch, Poole, Mid Dorset and North Poole as well as part of the South Dorset constituency that sits within Purbeck District Council, and part of the North Dorset constituency that sits within East Dorset District Council.

We campaign on local, national and international issues and look to stand candidates in local and general elections.

Join the Green Party

As a member, you can be as active as you like - from armchair and online support to standing as a candidate for election.

Membership can be obtained by going to the join page of our national party website.

Students can join the Green Party for just £6 a year!

Even if you don't want to make the commitment of joining us, we always welcome supporters and volunteers. Volunteers can help with our campaigning work. Could you help deliver leaflets to your street, or go out with our campaign team and speak to local residents about their concerns?

Do you have fundraising experience or web design, press, research and administrative skills?  Whatever your level of experience and however much or little time you can give, we would love to hear from you.

Contact us by email as above for more information about ways you can get involved.

Stand for Council

We are seeking enthusiastic, committed and hard-working candidates to help prepare for the elections in their ward. By-elections can be called for a number of reasons at short notice so we have to be prepared at all times!

We now have a Councillor in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BPC) Council - Simon Bull,  and a Councillor in Dorset County Council - Clare Sutton

Candidates must be paid-up members of the Green Party and support its main aims and policies.

We are particularly keen to ensure diversity amongst our candidates

BH Green Drinks

Green Drinks is a great way to meet new people, catch up with friends or just hang out with people who also want to contribute in whatever way to a more sustainable society.

It's not party political - anyone with an interest in green issues is welcome, but there are normally a few Green Party members there, so do come along and meet us!

BH Green Drinks is held  the second Thursday of every month from 7:30pm, the venue rotates around three locations.

Further details can be found on the BH Green Drinks Facebook Group.

Climate Reality Project

Host a presentation by Climate Leader Mark Chivers, a local Climate Leader.

The Climate Reality Project, founded  by former U.S Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore, exists to encourage individuals to demand urgent action on climate change from their leaders; employing cutting-edge communications and grassroots engagement tools to break the dam of inaction and raise the profile of the climate crisis to its proper state of urgency.

The Climate Reality Project can now offer Dorset community groups and business organisations the opportunity to hear the very latest thinking in this global challenge.

No charges are made for presentations and interested groups can request a session via the Climate Reality website or email

An Interesting website

This is a carefully sourced and referenced set of facts that counter many Government claims and popular myths:

Vote for Policies

Caroline Lucas, Green Party MP for Brighton Pavilion, in a letter to the Guardian, said "Out of 332,237 people surveyed in the Vote for Policies survey before the last election ... over 24% – more than any other party – chose Green policies. The last time people had a chance to vote in elections under proportional representation – the Euro elections of 2009 – the Greens won over a million votes, demonstrating again the growing support for action on the Green agenda."

Visit the website at Vote for Policies and take the survey yourself.  Compare policies from six UK political parties on a range of key issues.  After you have chosen the policies you agree with, you are shown which parties they belong to.
