See our separate page for information about joining the Green Party.
Unless otherwise indicated, both members and non-members of the Green Party may volunteer in these roles. Last updated: 11th October 2019
Climate & Ecological Emergency policy volunteers: We are looking for volunteers to join an in-progress project of preparing a local Green Party submission to BCP Council's current consultation on ideas for the local Climate & Ecological Emergency. We've already collectively assembled a load of ideas under topic headings, in groups at our first People's Assembly on the emergency. We need somebody to pick out those ideas from the Assembly which relate in some way to BCP Council's remit, and to do a bit of Internet research to provide explanations and evidence with the ideas. Email coordinator@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk to volunteer.
Crew for People's Assembly on Climate & Ecological Emergency: We're looking for volunteers to help organise future venues around BCP for further People's Assembly events on the local Climate & Ecological Emergency, spread the word, and help everyone feel welcome and included at events. Email coordinator@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk to volunteer.
Graphic design volunteers: Skilled designers wanted to help produce digital media graphics and future print newsletters and leaflets (for the General Election, and for Green councillors/campaigners on an ongoing basis). Green Party visual brand guidelines and templates provided. Email coordinator@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk.
Social events will resume in the new year, check back soon for details.
We currently have one active neighbourhood group, covering the ward of Wallisdown & Winton West (in Bournemouth). All Green-minded folk in this area are invited to come along: email Martine at wallisdownandwintonwest@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk.
A second local Green group will be starting soon covering the ward of Boscombe West (also in Bournemouth). If you're in that area and interested in getting involved locally, email Anne Cassels at boscombewest@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk.
Green Party member? Interested in starting a neighbourhood Green Party group where you live in South East Dorset? We can help you get started. Email coordinator@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Green Party is developing a series of working groups, to take forward different areas of the local party's activity - allowing you to contribute your skills in a focused and efficient way. Each working group has a Slack channel for efficient communication between meetings. These are the current groups:
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Green Party holds a monthly business meeting for members, where the local party's business is conducted. Most sections of this meeting are also open to guests who may be interested in getting involved in the local Green Party organisation.
These are held on the last Wednesday of every month, except August and December, from 7.00pm-9.00pm at Moordown Community Centre, 21 Coronation Avenue, Bournemouth BH9 1TW. The agenda is e-mailed to BCPGP members ahead of each meeting, and the minutes are circulated subsequently. Local party members can also access these documents on the party intranet.
For more information about business meetings, please e-mail the Secretary at secretary@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk.
If you're a member (or willing to become one) and you're interested in making a significant (but flexible and reasonable) activist commitment to helping the Green Party locally, and taking responsibility for an area of work to which you can bring some skills, please consider becoming an officer of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Green Party (BCPGP).
BCPGP elects its officers at its AGM each September. However, posts which are vacant after the AGM may be filled for the rest of the year by a "co-option" vote at a monthly members' meeting.
Here is a list of BCPGP officer posts currently vacant after the September 2019 AGM (click on a post name to open a Job Description):
To express an interest in putting your name forward for an officer post (to be agreed at our next monthly meeting), please email coordinator@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk.
We are seeking enthusiastic, committed and hard-working candidates to help prepare for the next council elections in their ward. The next full BCP Council election will be in May 2023 - but preparing properly to strongly compete will take anything from 18 months to three years, and the earlier you start the better. Additionally by-elections can be called for a number of reasons at short notice, so we have to be prepared at all times!
Green Party candidates must be paid-up members of the Green Party and support its main aims and policies. We are particularly keen to ensure diversity amongst our candidates. A variety of training resources and peer support will be available.
Email coordinator@sedorset.greenparty.org.uk to register your interest in being an active council candidate, outlining any relevant experience, skills and/or existing community involvement, and identifying where you live.

The wider local green community
Green Drinks is a great way to meet new people, catch up with friends or just hang out with people who also want to contribute in whatever way to a more sustainable society.
It's not party political - anyone with an interest in green issues is welcome, but there are normally a few Green Party members there, so do come along and meet us!
BH Green Drinks is held the second Thursday of every month from 7:30pm, the venue rotates around three locations.
Further details can be found on the BH Green Drinks Facebook Group.
Host a presentation by Climate Leader Mark Chivers, a local Climate Leader.
The Climate Reality Project, founded by former U.S Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore, exists to encourage individuals to demand urgent action on climate change from their leaders; employing cutting-edge communications and grassroots engagement tools to break the dam of inaction and raise the profile of the climate crisis to its proper state of urgency.
The Climate Reality Project can now offer Dorset community groups and business organisations the opportunity to hear the very latest thinking in this global challenge.
No charges are made for presentations and interested groups can request a session via the Climate Reality website or email climaterealitydorset@gmail.com
